It featured pre-conference workshops, a unique business partnering, and an awards dinner to recognize leading innovators and promising start-ups. The academics & researchers, entrepreneurs & start-ups, tech transfer professionals & IP lawyers, SME & multinational corporations, policy leaders, and venture capitalists & investors were brought together to discuss the following topics:

  • Urbanisation & future cities
  • Aging & the silver industry
  • Technological enabling education
  • Bottom-of-pyramid technologies

Taken place in Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, the ceremony was opened by the speech from the CEO of NUS Enterprise, Lily Chan. It then continued to presentation sessions from the invited leading-thought leaders. On Wednesday (04/16), Budi Rahardjo, PhD delivered a presentation entitled “A New Dawn of Technological Innovation – Is the Sun Rising in the East?”. This speech initially questioned and answered the audiences whether the innovation happen only in the West or also in the East. It emphasized that people in the East have to develop unique technologies to solve their problems, not just to develop services which are already common in the market.

InnovFest is an annual event firstly started in 2006 by NUS Enterprise. It grows remarkably from only technology commercialization forum into entrepreneurial support to research in academic entrepreneurship. It should be one of the must-attend tech events every year.
